Ahrefs AI Hackathon Produces 16 Tools to Automate Content Workflow

Ahrefs’ content team ran a week‑long AI hackathon using its internal Agent A platform to build tools that automate or accelerate routine content tasks.

The challenge required participants to pick a specific bottleneck, develop a usable v1, and share results on Slack each day. By Friday the team had produced 16 distinct tools, including a research library called Scrapbook, a Chrome extension SavedIn, a Keyword Research Hub with tiered relevance scoring, and a Reddit listener that aggregates AI‑search discussions. These tools were integrated into a shared pipeline that moves content from brief to publish, with each stage editable and refinable through Agent A’s chat loop.

Additional utilities such as Data Refresh, Press Release Generator, and WP Processor automate quarterly data updates, auto‑generate press releases, and convert drafts into WordPress‑ready HTML. The hackathon demonstrated that building AI tools around existing habits can save hours and improve consistency. The team emphasized that the most valuable tools were those that wrapped current workflows, like scraping LinkedIn saves or pulling competitor keyword gaps, rather than inventing new processes. The internal app store now serves as a repository for reusable AI modules that can be adopted across the organization.
