Anthropic, OpenAI Announce AI Ventures and GPT‑5.5 Launch

Anthropic and OpenAI have both unveiled major initiatives aimed at expanding the reach of artificial intelligence in the enterprise sector. Anthropic announced a joint venture with investment firms Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs, raising $1.5 billion—$300 million from each partner—to develop Claude‑powered systems for businesses. Simultaneously, OpenAI launched its Deployment Company, a standalone unit backed by more than $4 billion from 19 investors including TPG, Bain Capital, Capgemini, and McKinsey. The update delivers higher factuality, baseline intelligence, image understanding, and tone, while adding stronger personalization: ChatGPT can now tap saved memories, past chats, files, and connected Gmail, and it exposes “memory sources” so users see what context influenced a reply. The company rebuilt its WebRTC stack for voice and the Realtime API using a thin relay and a stateful transceiver to cut latency and keep conversations at speech pace. OpenAI also released an Agents SDK for TypeScript, featuring sandbox agents and an open‑source harness, and continued to push Codex UX automation with a task‑progress UI and an Auto Review feature for smoother approvals.

These moves signal a broader trend of AI‑enabled services, as other players such as Tessera raise Series A capital for system integration.
