WordPress 7.0 introduces a Modern admin theme that refreshes headers, the Customizer, color schemes, typography, and multisite signup screens, giving the dashboard a cleaner, unified look. View Transitions smooth navigation between supported admin screens while respecting reduced‑motion settings, and a Command Palette icon (⌘K/⌃K) opens the palette from any dashboard screen. A dedicated Font Library screen lets users upload, install, and manage fonts for block, hybrid, and classic themes. Visual Revisions add a slider to compare post or page edit history directly in the editor, with a document inspector summarizing changes.

The release also enhances mobile navigation by allowing site owners to customize hamburger menu overlays with blocks and patterns, giving them control over structure and design. Responsive editing moves further into core by letting editors decide whether specific blocks appear or remain hidden on different device types, with visibility indicators in List View and expanded breakpoint control. Block‑level custom CSS lets developers target individual blocks from the editor, and new blocks such as Heading, Icons, and Breadcrumbs expand design options.
